The general objective of the directorate:

The Directorate of Health and Environment works through the application of laws and regulations, and the implementation of many environmental projects related to solid waste management and in partnership with donors and the private sector, and in accordance with environmental safety requirements to reach a clean and safe environment, and evaluate the level of cleanliness of the city, in addition to collecting, transporting and treating waste according to the local strategy for solid waste management in the municipality. And emanating from the National Strategy for Solid Waste Management.

 

It undertakes the task of taking the necessary measures and precautions to prevent the spread of diseases and epidemics in order to make Madaba a healthy city within municipal work, and to achieve the vision and mission of the Greater Madaba Municipality, by implementing the regulations and laws in force in the municipality, and this is done through inspections of economic establishments, where tours are conducted annually. Inspection to ensure the follow-up and application of approved standards and conditions in the field of health and professional control and inspection, in coordination with the relevant authorities.

Tasks Directorate:

  1. Implementing the local solid waste management plan linked to the regional plan and the national plan with the Ministry of Local Administration.
  2. Health and professional inspection of economic establishments, and working to monitor the implementation Health and professional requirements, and taking the necessary measures in coordination with the relevant regulatory authorities, and issuing notices and violations against violators, to correct the existing situation and address it, and transfer them to the municipal court, or the competent judicial authorities.
  3. Bacterial and chemical laboratory tests for foodstuffs and water through laboratories in cooperation with the Food and Drug Administration, Madaba Branch, and the relevant authorities.
  4. Coordinating with the Food and Drug Administration, Madaba Branch, in conducting medical examinations for those dealing with foodstuffs.
  5. Taking the necessary measures to prevent harm and coordinating with the Office of the Ministry of Environment and the relevant authorities.
  6. Controlling insects and rodents, and completing requests for services provided by citizens in this field.
  7. Improving the procedures in place in the field of animal care and implementing them.
  8. Implementing service requests. Submitted by service recipients regarding dog deploymentStrays, snakes, stray cats, the nuisance caused by raising dogs, and controlling the breeding of stray dogs.
  9. Awareness, education, and giving awareness lectures in the fields of sorting, health, environment, and dealing with stray animals.
  10. Collecting and transporting solid waste from all areas of the city of Madaba and supplying it to the landfill.
  11. Coordinating with the Madaba Joint Services Council to dispose of the collected waste.
  12. Monitoring the nation’s workers in all three work periods (morning, evening, and night).
  13. Cleaning and sweeping streets and cleaning public squares.
  14. Control of insects and rodents with liquid spraying campaigns and smoking campaigns during the night periods.
  15. Sorting waste from the source and following up on all sorting operations using scientific methods.
  16. Following up and monitoring the markets in coordination with the Investment Department.
  17. Following up and monitoring the popular markets (bird market, halal market, Friday market) and coordinating with the Investment Department.
  18. Participating with the public safety committee formed by the Madaba Governorate.
  19. Implementing volunteer hygiene campaigns with the local community and stakeholders.
  20. Making tracking trails for hygiene collection mechanisms to mitigate pollution and reduce maintenance costs. and fuels through the GIS department.
  21. Distribution of containers and monitoring them through the GIS software system.
  22. Participation inThe work of the emergency management room.
  23. Following up on the environmental neighborhood initiative to sort from the source and circulating the initiative to the rest of the residential neighborhoods in coordination with the local development unit for community communication.
  24. Coordinating with initiatives and civil society institutions for awareness and public hygiene campaigns.
